The Obituary Writer is a historical novel that weaves together the parallel stories of two women living in different eras. In 1919, Vivien writes beautiful obituaries while grieving her lover who vanished in the 1906 San Francisco earthquake. In 1961, Claire is an unfulfilled housewife whose life is upended when a secret affair leaves her pregnant on the day of JFK's inauguration. Their alternating journeys eventually connect, revealing a generational link that changes their futures.
